The Dreamlock dream interpreter reads one dream you write down and answers with a short reading: what named old dream books said about its symbols, what psychologists notice in a dream like it, and one question to sit with. It is free, needs no account, keeps no copy of your dream, and never predicts the future.
Reading the images…
First it finds the symbols. Your text is matched against the dream dictionary on this site, with its word forms and synonyms, so a snake, a flood or falling teeth are recognised the way you wrote them.
Then it reads them through the old dream books, by name: Artemidorus's Oneirocritica (2nd century), the Golden Wheel Dream-Book (1862) and Gustavus Miller's dream dictionary (1901). Only the dictionary entries for your symbols are used, and every tradition is reported as a tradition, never as a fact about you.
Beside the books stands the psychological lens: what psychologists, from Freud and Jung to today's dream researchers, notice in a dream like yours. It is offered as a noticing, not a diagnosis. The reading closes with one open question.
The reading itself is written by Claude, the AI from Anthropic, under the same rules as every page here: attribute the books, predict nothing, diagnose nothing. If your text mentions wanting to hurt yourself, you get support lines instead of a reading.
Traditions are reported as heritage, attributed to their books — no dream foretells the future.
Yes. You get one full reading a day, with no account, no email and no payment. A reading has a real cost to produce, so the free allowance is daily. If you want every dream read, Dreamlock for iPhone keeps a private journal and reads unlimited dreams with Dreamlock Plus.
No. Your text goes to our server and to Anthropic only to write the one reading, and neither is stored or logged by us. Anthropic does not train on it and may keep it briefly for abuse monitoring under its API terms. Close the page and the reading is gone.
It finds the symbols in your text using our dictionary of 71 dream symbols, then reads them three ways: what named old dream books said (Artemidorus, the Golden Wheel, Miller), what psychologists notice, and one question for you. Each tradition is attributed, never stated as fact.
Yes. Claude, made by Anthropic, writes each reading from our dictionary entries and under our rules: name the source of every tradition, predict nothing, diagnose nothing. The dictionary entries themselves were written and checked against the old books by the Dreamlock team.
No. Many old dream books read dreams as omens, and the interpreter reports what they said as history. Our position, and the one every reading follows, is that a dream reflects the dreamer's own life and feelings, not events still to come.
